You could even use one or two of the ideas in this packet for your Primary or Youth classes when teaching 1-3 John; Jude. Having a family night at home isn’t just a great way to save money, it’s an excellent way to bond. That is, as long as you’re doing things together and not all staring at your devices or watching TV in different rooms. The person in charge of Family Home Evening is the one conducting the meeting. This is usually the head of the household but the responsibility of conducting the meeting can be assigned to another person.

“The Christ Child” is a new 18-minute dramatic short film depicting the events of the Nativity. As you watch it with friends and family, consider using this outline for a home evening lesson. You can follow this outline closely, or you can use elements of it to craft a lesson that fits your needs. Next comes the lesson, which should be prepared in advance and focus on a topic that is appropriate for your family. Some ideas include Faith in Jesus Christ, baptism, the Plan of Salvation, eternal families, respect, the Holy Ghost, etc.
We encourage everyone to search the scriptural accounts to better understand these inspiring events and to be taught by the Spirit. During His ministry, He served people one by one, aware of their individual needs. Use the service calendar from LightTheWorld.org to plan how you and your family will serve “one by one” during the month of December. Family Business
Share the details of your family history and family traditions. After the lesson Family Home Evening is ended with a song followed by a closing prayer. Choosing a closing song that corresponds with the lesson is a great way to re-emphasis what is being taught. At the back of both the Church Hymnbook and Children's Songbook there is a topical index to help find a song that relates to your lesson's topic. • Invite friends and family of other faiths to join in worshipping Jesus, the Light of the World, and attend a special Christmas worship service on Sunday, December 22nd.
This could also be used as singing time if your family is more inclined that way. Share an evening together as a family discussing your faith. A bible study is a great way to unite the family around common values. You can discuss topics that the small children may have learned about in Sunday School or you can discuss ideas for missionary work with older children.
Mary and Joseph and their families probably all spoke Aramaic. • Before watching the video, assign everyone a specific character to watch . After watching “The Christ Child,” discuss how each character may have felt in the situations portrayed.
The Church instructs its members not to hold any local events on Monday nights, so it is available for family time. Another fun way to spend the evening with members of your family is to watch a movie all together. Afterwards, be sure to discuss it and share your favorite character. This takes it from a passive activity into a more bonding activity as you share what interests you and why. Is there something your family wants to learn how to do or something you want to build?
It can be anything fun, like a simple activity, a planned outing, a craft, or a great game. The activity doesn't need to correspond with the lesson, but if it does that would be great.
